About Dwight Carter

A little bit about me, Driver/Owner, Dwight Carter

I am fifty years young as of April 9, 2013. I’m a single father of two, Jonathan and Claire, and proud grandfather of three, Jackson, Lainey and Maddox.

I have owner an old 1926 movie theatre for the past 16 years. I do everything from manage day to day operations, sell tickets, make popcorn and provide maintenance to all areas. I could not do this without the help from a lot of family and friends. At the Joyo Theatre, I show mostly family movies plus some classics.

I have lived in Lincoln, NE all my life and have always been a part of racecars as well as have an entrepreneur mindset. I have owned many small businesses over the years from Handy man services, lawn care, and remodeling companies. When I wasn’t working for myself I found jobs in construction, welding, auto parts, electrical and even flipped some burgers.

I started racing 30 years ago racing local tracks for 14 years winning the IMCA Sprints I-80 Track Championship my final two years. I took 15 years off to operate the movie theatre and started back to racing Sprint Cars in 2013 in the 305 Race Saver Sprints at Eagle Raceway. We finished the point’s standings in 16th place out of 35 cars with two weeks of not finishing due to accidents. Even with these accidents we still never missed a week of racing.

I believe that you should treat people with respect and then respect should come back to you. I enjoy life to the fullest, you never know when our time on earth will be done.
